One of the most well-known symbols in the world is our peace symbol and there has been much debate about its origins. Some Christians have claimed that it is the symbol of the anti-christ–its source dating to the Roman Emperor Nero (54-68 A.D.) where it was called “Nero’s Cross.” St. Peter was sentenced to death by Nero and it is recorded that he did not feel worthy to be killed in the same manner as Jesus, so he chose to be crucified upside down on an inverted cross with its arms broken and stretched at 45 degree (instead of 90 degree) angles.
