There are seven main chakras or energy centers located throughout the body. This article will detail the first of the seven, called the Root or Base chakra. The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine between the genitals and the anus.

Chakras are the center of activity in a body – the center that produces the life force energy. The word Chakra means wheel, or disk, and it is referred to as a spinning sphere of energy.

The alignment point in the body that is able to receive, associate with and transmit the life force of energy is called a chakra. It is a word from Sanskrit which means the sphere of mans aural energy or a continually spinning wheel.
