What If The Sermon On The Mount Had Never Been Preached?

Posted by Elton Warford On July - 24 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

It took Jesus only a few minutes to preach the Sermon on the Mount. Nevertheless, it has had more influence than any other sermon ever preached. It has been translated into more languages than any other work in the history of mankind. The Sermon on the Mount can be found in the Gospel of Matthew, chapters five through seven.

History Of The African Methodist Episcopal Church

Posted by Darryl Gaunce On July - 17 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Part of the Christian Methodist denomination, the AME Church has a concise history. Looking for religious freedom and freedom of discrimination by Philadelphia’s St. George’s MEC, African-American roots dominated the creation of AME. The original church was established by Absalom Jones, Richard Allen and others in 1787, the AME began as the FAS (Free African Society).

Origins Of The Christian Cross

Posted by Anton Petrov On July - 11 - 2010Comments Off

Crucifixion, or being put to death on two beams that formed a cross, was the ultimate punishment in Roman days. Being crucified hurt a lot, and the pain went on for a very long time.

Listening Is Caring

Posted by Ann Shorb On June - 21 - 2010Comments Off

You’ve heard the saying, “Talking is sharing. Listening is caring,” haven’t you? I saw it on a sign in front of a church a couple of years ago, and it caught my eye. In the last few weeks, I’ve seen it again several times. I’m not sure who first said it, but it really is [...]

It Started With Acapella Hymns And Ended Up With Doo Wop

Posted by James Hawkins On June - 20 - 2010Comments Off

What is the definition of cappella singing? It is singing without musical accompaniment. There are many different types of acapella singing. For example, there is Gregorian chant, barbershop quartet singing, doo-wop, and various modern styles. Not only are there various types of acapella singing, but there are even different ways to spell the word: acapella, a cappella, and acappella are all acceptable.

Posted by Kenneth Taylor On June - 15 - 2010Comments Off

There is perhaps no document or writing that is more important to a Christian than the Bible. It represents the words and teachings of God through the prophets. It is a tool to teach people the way to become true Christians and to be truly closer to God. It also chronicles the life of Jesus Christ as well as his teachings.

The Search for St. Peter’s Tomb

Posted by Robert Mann On June - 14 - 2010Comments Off

The search for St. Peter’s tomb began and ended in the center of Vatican City at St. Peter’s Basilica. This “greatest of all Christian churches” is believed by most Catholics to be the location where one of Christ’s greatest apostles was buried. It is thought that the honor of being laid to rest here was given to Peter, the first Bishop of Rome, not only because of how close he was to Jesus Christ, but also because he was the first in a very long line of Popes.

About The Unity Church

Posted by Malinda Runions On June - 3 - 2010Comments Off

Unity was founded in 1889 in Kansas City, Missouri, by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. The church grew based upon the healing powers that Mrs. Fillmore displayed through prayer and affirmations. The organization grew from small prayer circles held in living rooms to the wider movement it displays today.

In What Order Should I Read the Books of the Bible?

Posted by Webmaster On June - 2 - 2010Comments Off

by Matt Tague If you have started to read the Bible, you have begun a great thing. Unfortunately, it is easy to get frustrated or defeated while reading the Bible if you don’t know where to get started. Logically, the beginning seems like the right place to start, but that would be a mistake. Today [...]

Posted by Dollie Bodie On June - 1 - 2010Comments Off

The Holiness Methodist Christian denomination as it exists in the United States can be described as the Wesleyan Church. What this description means is that Wesleyan Church congregations practice “uplifting” worship and outreach through special programs, evangelical Protestant traditions that focus on Biblical teachings, that meet a variety of life needs in evangelizing, disciplining believers, equipping the church and ministering to society. Active in almost 100 nations, the Wesleyan Church is headquartered in Fishers, Indiana.
