Christmas Presence: What does that mean? Any literal meaning can and will always be open for debate. What about the meaning within, the personal, intuitive meaning? That is something that only you and I can define, and only for ourselves. The value of our intuitive meaning can be priceless, beyond measure.
It is thought that about 84 percent of the world population are people of faith. One third of that number is thought to be Christians.
The event we call Christmas, with decorations, gifting and festivities, is at least in part derived from christian stories and beliefs. Can we give all the credit to a single event that took place 2000+ years ago? No, not really. Our traditions and beliefs, even the christian ones, come from everywhere, growing from the seeds that have been planted since the beginning of time.
As we celebrate Christmas, with our abundance of food, friends, and christmas presents, let’s remember the greatest gift of all. You have our thoughts, emotions, and consciousness. We all have the ability to know “what we’ve always wanted”, and possess the drive and creativity to get what we want. We also have the choice to stand back and let life pass us by.
Does it matter what name we use to describe our faith? Every one of us have the same right to feel, touch, taste, understand, and define ourselves through our beliefs. We distinguish ourselves, yet we carry within us so many common attributes and goals. In a way our differences are only skin deep.
This Christmas will be like so many others. It will come and go, and life will continue like it always has. But then there is that one part of life that exists in every breath we take, in every moment we share. That is our presence, our spirit. It is the only part of us that is not of the flesh, yet it animates us. How much your own spirit will prevail, that is your god-given right and choice in every moment of your live.
As for me, I have lingered in the solitude of self, and carried from that place my own spirit that compels me to give unto others, create something that gives more than it takes. It’s amazing how much a feeling of peace can animate us, make us feel surreal yet more connected. We can give a gift, and find happiness for a moment. We can appreciate the gift of life, and be a gift to others, and that happiness can seed itself within every waking moment.
Wishing you a very merry Christmas, and a joyful new year.
