Chakras and the Elements

Within each one of our bodies lies a fundamental core of energy; used for construction of all that comes into being through us in this world. This energy is absorbed into our bodies from outside of us by specialized energy centers, known throughout the ages as Chakras. There are thousands of these points of entry located in and throughout our human frame, the strongest and most easily accessible being located along the spine. These seven major chakras are important facets of our lives, continuously checking and balancing the energies flowing through them.

Tuning in to our Chakra Energy

The process of awakening to ones Chakras is a beautiful experience that usually follows a time of introspection and rebirth, those times in life when we have outgrown who we used to be and are actively transforming ourselves. The closer we are aligned to finding our truth, our center, the easier it is to accept that we are much more than just the distractions and the circumstances of our lives that have defined us in the past. When that happens, we find balance in who we used to be versus who we are and we give ourselves permission to change. It is then that answers abound and show themselves as the information that we seek is drawn to us.

Regaining balance is a continuous, lifelong process. Balance is upset as soon as it is found, because the pendulum of balance swings back and forth. The ultimate goal is not to find utter balance and harmony and keep it so much as it is to find ways to sustain it as often as possible. In this way we step back from our limited human mindset to become one with all of life, accepting where we find ourselves.

Chakra Flow – Harmony

Working with our Chakras, we discover the ways that energy affects us. Learning to harmonize the flow of energy within our Chakras is not difficult, though it does require that we change the way that we see things. One of the most important realizations that we develop when working with our Chakras is the understanding that everything affects everything else. We do not live in a vacuum, no matter how much our minds want to isolate us from others.

Let’s say that you feel a tightness in your stomach, a nervous sensation of some kind, and you visualize a complexly woven knot of energy that is slowly being untangled bit by bit as a beautiful yellow light runs through what becomes a golden rope of light, untangling the knot and restoring harmony to that area of your body. You release the light through your Solar Plexus Chakra and out into the universe and all of a sudden you feel lighter, healthier and positively glowing. Visualizations like these actually stimulate your brain into creating chemical and molecular changes, which in effect means that we create what we experience at very subtle levels by the thoughts that we associate with our experience. In the two minutes that it takes you to imagine something so peaceful and wonderful, you can effectively bring that energy into play in your own life. You can do it any time… so you may as well be taking advantage of it!

When we stop and really pay attention to the energy around us, often we find that we can not only hear it, but see and feel it intimately- much more so than we might have realized before. Imagine walking into a room full of people and stopping long enough to tune into the energies that are present on an individual basis. No one actually needs to teach us how to do this, because at some level we already know how to do it. Just as working out at the gym exercises unused muscles and strengthens them, when we begin to pay attention to the energies around us and how they affect us, our ability to focus on them and even change them is strengthened.

As we focus our attention on the Chakras, these beautiful blossoms emerge more controlled and more stable. We can totally influence and orchestrate the rhythm of our lives and infuse it with passion and energy and ability. We do this for ourselves, and we do it by working with the Chakras, using visualizations, energy work, Aromatherapy, sounds, meditations and whatever else we find that seems to move us in the direction of discovery of who we really are.
