Ancient Paintings In Northern Australia

I love paintings, I love beautiful paintings. I love paintings of life scenes, abstract images, wall murals just name them; I am attracted in no small measure. This fondness drives me to allot huge sums of money and my leisure times to satisfying this obsession and this is more or less a tradition now. I have in my sojourn come across several paintings both locally and internationally but of all I met, I was most impressed by the Australian Scenery Paintings by Sir Hansen Heysen.

The National Park called Charles Darwin covers areas which have both natural and cultural significance. Australia has many wetlands, and Port Darwin is here protected, being one of the most important wetlands of Australia. If you’re planning to visit it, keep in mind that it is open only during the day, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Apart from many activities you’ll be able to enjoy while you’re there, there is also food, bathroom facilities, walking tracks, and a bicycle path.

Litchfield National Park is located 100 km southwest of Darwin, and you can visit it throughout the whole year. Even though the park is opened at all times, some swimming facilities are closed during the wet season, and some 4WD tracks. If you’re planning to camp, it’s good to know that you can camp within the Park itself, as well as bushwalking tracks and areas meant for picnic. People who like waterfalls shouldn’t miss this park, because there are many to be seen.

More Bushwalking Experiences

West MacDonnell National Park can be visited all year round, but many recommend you go there in the cooler months, from April to October. If you’re coming with kids, they’ll have a blast, as there are barbeque areas, picnic areas, bushwalking trails, bike trails and swimming facilities. The Park, apart from everything else, offers a unique, ancient landscape whose sculptor was no one else but climate. For those interested in learning, there are many scenic and cultural features, and about to see and hear about flora and fauna of the region.

National Park Finke Gorge is literally vast, covering the area of 46,000 hectares. This is also the home of Palm Valley, where many rare plant live, such as Red Cabbage Palm, which makes the Palm Valley famous. There are about 3,000 adult plants of the palm in this area. This is a place culturally significant for Aboriginal people, although traces of European settlements are visible. It is located about 140 km from Alice Springs. You can visit it throughout the whole year, except when Finke river is flooding.

Paintings of Sir Hansen Heysen not only changed the world and our views to paintings, they also changed his life. The endless stream of awards and recognitions this artist received empowered him financially and gave him an indelible place in history’s books. I never lived in his time and although his paintings bear very close similitude with the true views of the area today, it is easy to tell what they really were like in his day because of his sincere and impecable representation.
