The Science of Making Affirmations

Affirmations are the set of statements that echo the deep rooted beliefs of an individual. Every thought or action is an affirmation. It is a fact that our subconscious mind cannot segregate between positive and negative thoughts. If the self-talk or the thought process is negative then the subconscious believes it to be negative and our actions, responses and behavior turn out to be negative. Therefore it is very essential to imbibe positive thinking habits. Positive thoughts can be provoked using positive affirmations. These affirmations must be repeated over and again in our minds to drift the thoughts in positive direction. These affirmations can help in improvement of any aspect of life.

Practicing Affirmations

Make a commitment and stick to it. Just as you need to follow some kind of exercise routine to keep your body fit, so does your mind. If you devote 30 min. in the morning to physical exercise, give at least 10 min. to your daily affirmations and about 5 min. for meditation methods. Because if you are not regular, you will not get much out of it, except a temporary upliftment of your spirits. Therefore, write your daily affirmations 15-20 times regularly and give yourself a specific time period, like say, 45 days, to achieve your target.

Affirmations Start With Self Love

Look in the mirror and ask yourself, “Do I love myself?” If you get a positive answer, then you have nothing much to do accept practice daily affirmations regularly, since you already have the basic ingredient present inside you. After a while, you will find yourself making new friends of value and even the old ones will start bonding in a valuable way than ever before. What if you get a “No” for an answer? Don’t despair! You have the tool of daily affirmations with you. Look firmly into your eyes in the mirror and say with conviction, “I Love You” as many times as it takes for it to sink in.

The worst scenario is, when you are not even able to meet your eyes! That means that there is a lack of confidence in your makeup and you need to make immediate repairs. Therefore, first you have to start believing in yourself. Start chanting, “I Believe!” to yourself. Before doing something, add this in your mind first. For e.g.: if you are apprehensive of meeting someone, then affirm, “I believe our meeting is pleasant and harmonious.” You can even imagine a smiley or a thumbs-up sign with the sentence. This will raise your confidence many notches. Here, meditation can help immensely. You can simply do meditation methods on “I Believe!” and feel the difference.

Affirmations and Gratitude

Make “Thank you”, an integral part of your life. You can play a thank you game while driving. Thank the road, thank your car; thank the trees……. And by the time you reach your destination, you will be brimming with positive vibes and it will reflect in your behavior towards other people, and receive abundant goodness in return!

Do this exercise. Stand with your arms wide open and imagine all your near and dear ones coming into them and entering your heart! Welcome all. Expand your heart to make room for all. Welcome your enemies even. They will soon become your friends! Rather your fans! Build the foundation of lovely relationships on the pillars of daily affirmations and enjoy life!
