It’s difficult to think of Halloween without thinking of ghosts. On this now festive occasion many dress up in costumes of the whimsical nature, as ghosts, witches, and goblins. Others dress as celebrity characters, choosing Harry Potter or other characters of interest. Another tradition that dates back in time turns to celebrities and political figures, sometimes with a bit of a political statement.
Ghosts and Halloween
Ghosts and halloween go hand in hand. The origins of the word Halloween are All Hallow Eve, the night before All Saints Day. This date is thought to be the time when the spirit world and the physical world are most closely connected. It was meant to be a time of honor for the saints, followed by another religious day called All Souls Day, when any soul can be atoned for their sins and released from purgatory.
Ghosts and Spirits – One in the Same?
Talk to those in the metaphysical field and you may get some very different answer, but generally speaking we are all spirit with a physical body. When we die we remain spirit but diminish with our connections to the earth. Ghosts, on the other hand, are perceived as spirits that are trapped, either by their own challenge surrounding their death, or by others related to their life story. For those who are curious about the whole “ghostbusting” field, yes it can be measured, and ghosts can be treated in as many ways as we can treat people. We can cast them out, trap them, ask them to leave, or help them free themselves from whatever is causing them to “stick”. My spiritual counseling focuses on the last of those options.
Visits from Spirit
As a psychic visionary and seer I have talked with many on a spirit level, supporting and guiding the living with their desire to live within their spiritual vision. I’ve also talked with spirits who no longer have physical ties to this world. Spirit is spirit, the breath of life in this world. Spirit exists before the body, and exists when the body returns to matter.
Halloween Ghosts
Halloween in these times is more for parties and trick or treat than it is for prayer, blessings, or karmic release. I personally do not wait for any given day to give honor to spirit both in-body and passed, and am never hesitant to share blessings. We can set the tone this month as one of honor for our spiritual roots, giving those who lived before us permission for release (keep a dab of that permission for those still walking the earth, too!), and turn Halloween into a celebration of life!
