Giving Meaning to Summer Solstice

This year’s summer solstice is on June 21st, 2011. There is nothing more to the solstice than the summer light, but like anything in life we make the choice to make it symbolic or give it some meaning. We are creative souls, expressive and always on the lookout for some way to create more inner depth without hardship. To look upon such a day of light and find insight, what more could we ask for?

Mayan Signs of the Times

In the Mayan calendar the day June 21, 2011, the day of the summer solstice, connects with the combination of tone and glyph of 1 Chuen, the sign of the monkey. Summer is certainly associated with play, and a chance to enjoy the warmth of the sun. Look around and we see growth, color, and productivity. Looking within, how can we parallel this expansive time of the year?

Summer Eclipse x3

We just experienced a full lunar eclipse on June 15th, a spectacular sight to see live on youtube/google.  We’ll see another partial eclipse again on July 1st. Carry in the June 1st eclipse and we have an interesting trio, a series of events that are all based upon the alignment of the earth, moon, and sun, another powerful trio.

Is there significance to this alignment? There is no denying we have been through some turbulent times, but all energies can work for us or against. The vision we hold, the purpose we support, and the way we apply ourselves in the days to come, there is no better time than on the longest light day of the year to have a closer look at our creations.
