Using lavender to help relax will make it easier to fall asleep and get the rest that cold symptoms do not usually allow. Even though there are several ways to use these substances to care for a stuffy nose, head congestion, and nagging coughs, one of the best applications for coughs and congestion is inhalation. Setting up inhalation therapy is also very easy to do. In preparation you will need a bowl of boiling hot water, a towel, and the correct blend of oils.
Steam inhalation is used by placing a number of drops of eucalyptus and peppermint in the boiling hot water. Using the towel, drape it over your head and bend down facing the bowl to form an enclosure around the bowl with the towel. Take deep breaths for several minutes to get the quick results that this remedy offers,
Using a few drops of eucalyptus, lavender, and peppermint in a warm bath is also very therapeutic. The peppermint and eucalyptus will help clear congestion and soothe coughing while the lavender is calming and relaxing and adds an antiseptic quality. By soothing the symptoms, relaxing, and falling asleep you will get the rest needed to recover form the symptoms.
Essential Oil Healing Properties
Because of the remarkable healing properties, it is worth considering using essential oils for cold care as an alternative to over the counter remedies. There are several additional oils regarded by aromatherapists to have potent immune-boosting actions, while actually destroying viruses.
