Do you feel intimidated when someone asks you to pray? Do you want to talk to God about something, but you don’t know how? When you discover how to pray to God, you will soon realize that it is not as difficult or intimidating as it may seem. It is the same as talking to a friend or someone you know very well.
When you are meeting someone for the first time, you may feel a little nervous at first. Sometimes it depends on your personality. In any case it takes time to build a relationship with someone. In the same way, when talking to God for the first time, you have to look at it as building a relationship.
God is not restricted by the limits that humans have everyday. He can be many places at once through his spirit. Your friends may be able to certain places at certain times, and you can talk to them only for so long. It is not this way with God. You can talk to him anytime, wherever you are. There is no need for a schedule.
There are different positions that people take when they pray in terms of kneeling and the folding of hands. The reality is that kneeling is not the only way to talk to God. This is the reason why some people don’t truly communicate with Him effectively, because they believe that it is restricted to a ritual. As long as you are sincere, He will hear you.
When you are talking to God, you are doing so with your mind. The reason for this is that God is a spiritual being or spirit. This gives Him the ability to be in two or many more places at the same time. So there is no need to think that He is not available to talk to you. You are just one of many who are connected to Him. Being connected means He is with you all the time.
Even though He is in all places, it does not mean that whatever you say in you alone time with God will be not be put on display to everyone else. On the contrary secrets are safe, even more so than with your friends.
As with any other relationship, you also have to listen. Take the time to just be quiet, even in your mind. You might just hear Him talking to you, providing you with the answers you seek. This is the same in any other relationship. You cannot do all the talking, or you cannot know what the other person is thinking. When you practise listening soon you will be able to recognize His voice. Then you would know how to pray to God.
