What do I love about writing for IntuitiveMeaning.com? Oh, the vast array of topics we can cover, things from the obvious and over-emphasized to the subtle little signs we see in things like four-leaf clover or a number like the number 13.
Thirteen aka 13 is certainly a very energetic number. It is loved by those who live for defying the limitations in life. The number 13 is also avoided, with gaps in floor numbers and superstitions of the combination of Friday and 13.
We live in a ten-based world, with many of our counting systems revolving around multiples of ten. How is it that the number 13 ever became a part of any society as anything significant?
The Mayan calendar uses the number 13, and that ancient civilization saw the number 13 as a magical number. I have written about the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar and the empowering qualities we possess each day for the past several years. Intuitively speaking, I see the number 13 as a gateway to our own evolution. Here’s the way it goes beyond numerology:
In numerology we have the 10 base number system, with the number 10 as the point of completion. We can speak of the number 10 in many ways – as manifestion, the pay-off, the day of rewards, what we gain from our experience. Each of the numbers preceding 10 play a role from conception to completion. How then do the numbers in the Mayan calendar have meaning? Isn’t completion the final stopping point?
In my interpretation of the numbers in the Mayan Calendar, the number eleven is the point at which we look at what we have created and ask, “What does this mean to me”? We begin the journey of learning from our life events, which leads us to the number 12, the point at which we find wisdom from our life lessons. The number 13 is that magical gateway when we have our foot on both sides, combining our newly gained wisdom into our next step in life. That’s what we’re talking about, evolution of the soul! A roll of the dice never comes up as the number 13, but our life is not a game of chance, either. We are souls, we are spirit in the body, and every step along the way has meaning.
