The 5 Tibetan Rituals are also called the Five Tibetan Rites and were made popular by Peter Kelder in his ’85 book called The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth. The book went into detail on the exercise regimen of Tibetan monks that caused them to live long and look young.
The 5 exercises have several benefits that include a younger look, better ability to sleep, getting up in the morning with vitality, and no pain. Other infirmities that might be relieved include arthritis, memory, vision, youthful look with little to no wrinkling, increased strength and endurance, and improved mental and emotional health.
Tibetan culture relies on seven major chakras that keep the body and mind healthy. They are in charge of the body’s endocrine system which contains all the glands that are stimulated in order to achieve proper health. If the endocrine system is in working order than all the organs will work together to promote good health and well being.
The seven major chakras are the root (base of the spine), sacral (navel), solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye (center of forehead), and crown (top of the head). The chakras are linked together with all other systems in the body. The speed in which the chakra spins is relevant to vibrant health so they must spin fast. They must also spin in coordination with each other so it creates harmony within the body. Therefore if the heart chakra isn’t spinning as well as the rest of the chakras you may have a heart problem. If the root isn’t spinning well you can have spine related difficulties and if the sacral chakra is out of kilter the stomach may be an issue. All must spin relatively the same in order to achieve harmony.
These five rituals include some spinning movements, kneeling on the floor, lying down on the floor, moving the arms and legs or raising the body up on arms and legs. Some of these exercises are easy to do including the one where you spin in place with arms out to the more difficult one of lifting the entire body with arms and legs from a lying position. Some of these exercises are difficult for those that are not in good health. Always consult with a doctor before starting to do the exercises. You may be able to find a Yoga instructor, since the exercises are considered to be yoga, that will help you at first. These exercises should also be started out with care and slowly at first. Start with three of each and then progress to the recommended 21 times but do no more. The entire program takes 10 to 20 minutes to do.
Because of the nature of these exercises you may experience some detoxification symptoms. They tend to clean the chakras and some effects can be unpleasant. The intestines can empty, sweating may have an order and there may be some symptoms that look like flu. This doesn’t happen often with a healthy person. Performing all of the 5 Tibetan Rituals can keep you in tip top shape and make you look long longer than you normally would.
