Thank you for this discussion. What you’re saying makes me think what’s wonderful of Arya Khandiravani Tara (Green Tara) is that she made a firm decision to deny manifesting as a male manifestation but rather ALWAYS as a female in order to help sentient beings. Even more so, that SHE encapsulates the ACTION (compassionate and wisdom) of all the buddhas. I can’t wait for your teaching in the spring on Prajna Paramita (Wisdom Gone Beyond). Om ah dhih hum svaha. And I say this as a man.

In my own personal opinion, I don’t think discussion of the sacred feminine suggests duality. Quite the opposite. The qualities of the dharmakaya are a combination of masculine-feminine. Another example is Avalokitishvara sometimes recognized as male, other times female. I think neither & both. 1,000 Armed Chenrezig in Japan for instance is seen as female, Kannon. I love the notion that the yab-yum decplicts this wholeness, this completion as male representing compassion & female wisdom.
