The history of Tarot No one really knows exactly where or when Tarot started but there are proof found of Tarot cards used in the fifteenth century. There are even Tarot decks from back then that have been found and kept up until today.

In the 18th and 19th centuries people discovered that the true powers of Tarot cards where far beyond just a normal card game.

Since then the Tarot have had connections with secret societies such as the order of the golden dawn. Kabbalah, Egyptian mysteries and Hermetic philosophy has also shaped Tarot into what it is today.

Can anyone use Tarot cards? Psychic readings and Tarot readings have always been portrayed as occult, dark and scary by “Hollywood” movies showing the typical old and ugly psychic living in a dark, dirty hole somewhere scary.

You do not have to be a psychic to read Tarot cards. Practice and training of reading your intuition will get your Tarot reading skills improved quickly. Tarot is simply just another tool to reach and use the power of the unconscious, much like meditating, psychotherapy, visualization and interpretation.

Exactly how Tarot cards work has many different interpretations. Some claim that the cards are just tools for communicating with spirits, psychic phenomena or intuition. Others mean that the number of people that have meditating on the cards have collectively created an energy around the cards.

The Tarot Cards A standard Tarot deck has 78 where 22 of the cards are “major arcana” or trumps for example The Lovers, The Fool, The Pope and The World. In the US the standard deck is the Rider-Waite deck. Even though it is certainly not the most attractive of Tarot cards the Rider-Waite deck is the most recommended deck to start out with if you are new to Tarot.

Tarot decks vary in look and graphics a lot while the basic meaning of the cards remain the same, but some Tarot decks are more suitable for specific types of readings.

What can Tarot Cards do for you? It can help you with guidance and finding meaning through making the connection to your source or consciousness easier. It is simply a tool for connecting to yourself and reading the signs that were always there.

Tarot cards is a good tool for tapping into your inner wisdom and let all that power help guide you through touch decisions and daily life.
