Beat of the Drum – Beat of the Heart

Intuitive Meaning: Posted by Webmaster

Drumming has been an important part of our development as individuals and in society for centuries. Drum were used around the world for communication, with the rich deep tone of the drum carrying much greater distances than a voice.

Drums have also played a strong part in our spiritual development, and shaman leaders around the world have used drums to lift their people into a state of consciousness beyond the normal day to day beta rhythm.

Many today enjoy making their own drum, with the support and knowledge of a gifted drum maker. It is different purchasing a ready-made drum: making your own drum instills your own energy signature into the drum, and creates a bond between your own spirit and the spirit of the animal who’s hide gives the drum its resonant sound. A skilled drum making teacher helps you with the technical aspect of drum making as well as setting an energy that creates that harmonic bond that will live within that drum through its lifetime.

In the pacific northwest there is an event called the Healing Drum Retreat. This event is very affordable, giving you a package deal of a weekend of workshops and activities that help you within your own energetic shift from the day-to-day beta to the more harmonious tones of alpha and theta, the place where we create and heal.

The Healing Drum Retreat starts Friday evening with a drum making class, with teacher Kaye Tahwakeena leading everyone in a community of drum making. Instruction is shared about caring for your drum, and the drums have opportunity to dry over the following weekend retreat. Saturday begins with meditations and activities that promote releasing, clearing, and healing. We will be drumming on big group drums, singing, and will have a saturday night campfire as well in our country setting.

The next Healing Drum Retreat is April 16-18th, 2010 in Yelm, Washington. Learn more at the Healing Drum Retreat website.

Author Estee Taschereau offers individual intuitive sessions by phone, and co-teaches the Healing Drum retreat.
