Anytime you see an advertisement for a psychic reading you are likely to see the words intuitive or clairvoyant. The terms “intuitive” and “clairvoyant” are often exchanged for one another, but there are distinct differences between the two.
Clairvoyant is a french word which means “clear seeing” or “clear vision”. Clairvoyance refers to seeing images, much like seeing a picture with your physical eyes.
Intuition, on the other hand, is the word describing a feeling, and is often referred to as that “gut level feeling”. In fact, the area of our energetic chakra system where that intuitive feeling comes from is the belly chakra.
Clairvoyance is not an ability associated with the belly chakra. The ability to see clearly, perceiving energy or spiritual seeing is located in the brow chakra, just above the eyes.
Which of these abilities are used in a psychic reading?
Let’s start by talking about what a psychic reading is: the word psychic is derived from the word psyche, which is “of the soul”. The word reading is used to describe these sessions because the psychic is reading the person “like a book”.
With this definition in mind we can safely say that a psychic reading could be performed using either clairvoyance or intuition. Most of the time the reader uses both, shifting unconsciously in attention from vision to feeling.
In my own practice as a spiritual counselor, utilizing the word spiritual in the sense of psychic or of the soul, I utilize both clairvoyance and intuition, and many other energy awareness abilities as well.
Why would you need two different abilities?
The people who come to me for a reading session come because they have an issue or perception that they want clarified, or they have a feeling that they can’t quite put into words. The wonderful part of being a reader is that I can move quickly to those non-verbal questions in little time.
When I view a persons energy I may be looking at a whole array of data they have stored: images, feelings, reactions, other peoples energies, conditioning or programming, and more. I might perceive the answer by seeing, feeling emotions, feeling energy flow, hearing, even tasting at times.
Intuitive or clairvoyant, they are different but lead us to the same thing: a clearer understanding of our amazing energetic existence!
