There are a lot of people out there that have this attitude of “dog eat dog”. They unfortunately believe that they have to be overly competitive or someone else will get more then them.

This is without doubt, not a good work environment to be in. The main thing that you need to keep in mind is that you do not have to play that game. You should focus on doing your job and doing it well. Your will rise to the top with your self esteem intact if you take personal pride in your work and always strive to do your best.

Tip # 2 is about your behavior.

You will want to keep in mind that negative people will come into your life in all shapes, sizes, behaviors and negative attitudes. Of course, there is no reason that you have to participate in these behaviors. Others are choosing their own unhappiness and choosing not to change. You can choose to keep a positive attitude with positive behavior which will lead to higher self esteem.

Tip # 3 – Your Environment and the constant change.

Each day our world changes. Sometimes it is easy to change with it, sometimes not. Look at change as a way to improve yourself. See it as an opportunity for growth and learning.

Being able to roll with change as it happens gives us the tools of flexibility and adaptability. Self improvement comes from evaluating different situations and seeing how you can build upon them in a positive way. It is what it is. You own your experiences and they belong to you. You can choose to learn from them and then move on with life as a stronger wiser person. You don’t need to be consumed by past experiences because they do make you your own unique person.

Be aware of how often you surround yourself with the news of negative events that happen both world wide and locally. You make the choice. Choosing self improvement and self esteem means choosing to be aware of negative events in the world, but also educating yourself in the positive work that is being done to change those negative world events, and perhaps being part of the positive work yourself.

Tip # 6 – Your Determination. Be determined in your own personal life purpose.

Be determined to choose positive self esteem. This is a choice that you own and it determines your own identity.

Some people have to fight for positive self esteem and for some it comes easily. How you were raised and the traits you were born with are big influences over you.

You will be influenced by your spouse, the economy, your friends and co-workers. Just keep in mind that it takes determination to continue on your path of self improvement.

In your life it is you who has to have the final say. Don’t give your power and self esteem away by not realizing that you have the final control over your thoughts, actions and behaviors.

Self improvement and self esteem come when we are ready and willing to take responsibility for who we currently are and then identify the person we want to become.

Use your determination to take control of your attitudes, actions and behaviors so that they are a positive influence in your life and in the lives of those around you.
