Most people have heard about stories pertaining to events that may or may not happen on December 21st 2012. These tales and predictions have their roots in the Mayan calendar but there are only a few people who completely understand what the 2012 Mayan prophecies are actually about.
The Mayan people had a deep understanding of astronomy and our solar system. They understood the intrinsically cyclic nature of celestial bodies and the effect that this has on human consciousness.
One of their greatest observations was that our Sun aligns itself with the center of the galaxy at intervals of 6, 000 years. They suggested that the results of this alignment can cause the sun to have massive solar events including flares and a change in its magnetic field. This cosmic event would in turn create massive physical changes here on Earth.
The Mayan prophecies also mention a “time of no time”. This is believed to refer to a 20 year period that leads up to the end of their long-count calendar in December 2012. During these years they believed that solar winds would be visible from the Earth and would have such an effect that man would have a greater understanding of his place in the universe. It is actually a myth that people believe the Mayans predict the end of the world is coming, they actually state that it is the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next.
They call this new era “the Golden Age”. The Mayan prophecies suggest that it will be a time of enlightenment for mankind. The period of greed and fear will come to an end and will be replaced by a civilization that has great enlightenment. The Mayans believe that this is only one of five such quantum jumps that have occurred throughout the history of mankind.
They predict that the quantum jump that will happen after 2012 will bring about a society which is much more harmonious and compassionate.
