The Vedic hymns date back to pre-1500 B.C., though this is certainly not a clear idea as to the age of these teachings. Buddha made an appearance 2,500 years ago, and in Buddha’s teaching are mention of the teachings of the Vedas.
Many of the verses can be interpreted to have meaning today. In this article we will focus on the concept of Faith.
“Through Faith the fire is kindled,
Through Faith the oblation is offered.
Faith, that stands at the head of fortune,
Her do we with our song proclaim.”
(Rig-Veda 10. 151. i.)
What sets man apart from animal other than our consciousness, the ability to dream and project, create on levels far beyond the abilities of the beasts. Faith can be connected with thought, strongly associated with consciousness. Through our thoughts we create a bridge to all possibilities. This verse confirms the long standing Laws of Attraction and Conscious Creativity, that what we receive, when called to us by faith, begins and ends within.
“Faith dwells within the gods,
Faith dwells upon this world,
Faith, the mother of wishes—
With oblations do we prosper her.”
(Taittirlya Brahmana 2. 8. 8).
Oblations is offerings, gratitude, thanks, tithing. We must give thanks or share our gratitude for what we have and seek for the world to prosper, and if the world prospers we prosper as well. Hold your dreams in sacred space – in faith the mother of wishes. Faith dwells within the gods, and if we interpret the gods as our spiritual presence we clearly here that the origin is within. When we speak of the world we see not the origin but the resulting matter, the fruits of our labor, and hopefully it is a labor of love.
