The Meaning of Intuitive Thinking or Feeling

Intuitive Meaning: Posted by Estee Taschereau

When we open the mystical bag of spiritual abilities one of the first things we will find is the ancient ability called intuition. Many have thought intuition was a gift for the seer or psychic, but this ability permeates our everyday lives.

Most of our perceptions are put together by a collection of evidence that is supported by our senses: what we physically see, and can touch. Intuition goes beyond the senses and the facts and delves into a world that is connected more to feel than touch. Through intuition we can get that gut level feeling that lets us know when something is not true, or someone cannot be trusted.

Intuition is the word used to describe what we have been called a gut-level feeling. If you already know about the chakra system were talking about the belly chakra. This is a gut-level, emotion response oriented or feeling-based response.

In the Latin language we have the word intueri, the root of the word intuition. This word can be translated to mean look within, which is a great definition of intuitive abilities.

So what role does intuitive insights play in our day-to-day lives? Using our intuitive abilities is much like supporting your vision of a wonderful strawberry with the taste and smell. Intuition is a tool of perception. The best way to build this ability is to acknowledge your use of it.

Many spiritual professionals use their intuition as a gauge and guide in their psychic reading sessions. For some this ability seems to come easily or naturally, for others it is a skill that can be developed.

Intuition is different than clairvoyance. The word clairvoyance is derived from the French word words clair, meaning clear, and voyance, or vision. This ability is associated with the brow chakra, and while it is located in the general vicinity of the mind it is actually stepping out of the workings of the mind.

No matter how we look at it our intuitive abilities are a part of our everyday lives. There are some who use intuition openly as a part of their consulting business. Most of us use intuitive feeling without thinking of it, or associating it with the word intuition. Acknowledgement of any ability is usually based on feedback from others, and most do not encourage an ability that can cut so closely down to the truth.
